Knowing Jesus personally through faith and obedience

Introduction: The Difference Between Knowing About Jesus and Knowing Him Personally

Many people know the name of Jesus, but do they truly know Him?

  • The Pharisees knew Scripture but rejected Jesus.

  • The rich young ruler followed the commandments but refused to follow Christ.

  • The demons know who Jesus is—but they do not serve Him. (James 2:19)

Jesus Himself warns:

"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 7:21)

⚠️ Calling on His name is not enough.
⚠️ Attending church is not enough.
⚠️ Even believing that He exists is not enough.

🔥 We must know Him personally, be filled with His Spirit, and walk in obedience. 🔥

The Urgent Call to Know Jesus Personally

➡️ Knowing the Name of Jesus Is Not Enough—We Must Walk with Him

1. The Sons of Sceva: When Using Jesus' Name Is Not Enough

In Acts 19:13-16, a group of men tried to cast out demons using the name of Jesus—but they had no real relationship with Him.

"One day the evil spirit answered them, ‘Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?’"

The demons attacked them, because they had no authority in Christ.

Why?
✅ They knew about Jesus but did not belong to Him.
✅ They used His name but did not have His Spirit.
✅ They wanted His power but did not submit to His Lordship.

The lesson? Knowing the name of Jesus without true relationship is powerless.

2. Why Knowing Jesus Personally Is Urgent

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)

Many people think they are spiritually safe because they attend church, pray, or read Scripture. But Satan is looking for those who are spiritually asleep—those who claim Christ without truly walking in Him.

Satan’s greatest weapon is deception. (2 Corinthians 11:14)
The enemy blinds those who do not fully surrender to Jesus. (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Only those who are truly in Christ can stand against him. (James 4:7)

The Bible warns of a time when many will fall away because they only had surface-level faith. (Matthew 24:10-12)

⚠️ Are you prepared, or are you just religious?
⚠️ Do you truly walk with Jesus, or do you just know His name?

3. What It Means to Truly Know Jesus

Jesus said:

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Knowing Jesus is not about religion—it is about:
Following Him daily (Luke 9:23)
Walking in obedience to His voice (John 10:27)
Being filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8)
Living in surrender, not just discipline (John 15:4-5)

🔥 True faith is a relationship, not a routine! 🔥

4. How to Deepen Your Relationship with Jesus

Many people struggle to connect with Jesus personally. Here’s how to go deeper:

Seek Him daily in His Word.

  • John 5:39-40 – Scripture leads us to Jesus, not just knowledge.

  • Read with a heart to encounter Him, not just for information.

Pray with expectation.

  • Jeremiah 33:3"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

  • Speak to Him as your Lord, your Friend, and your King.

Be filled with the Holy Spirit.

  • Romans 8:14"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God."

  • The Holy Spirit brings life to your faith and gives power to walk in Christ.

Obey what He tells you to do.

  • John 14:15"If you love me, keep my commands."

  • Many people hear God’s voice but do not follow it—true relationship requires obedience.

🔥 True relationship is not just hearing about Jesus—it is following Him every day! 🔥

5. The Call to Wake Up: Are You Truly in Christ?

Jesus is calling His people to wake up.

"Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." (Ephesians 5:14)

✔️ Are you spiritually awake, or have you been asleep in religious routine?
✔️ Have you truly been born again, or are you just following Christian culture?
✔️ If Jesus returned today, would He recognize you as His own?

Conclusion: It’s Time to Seek Jesus for Yourself

⚠️ Knowing about Jesus is not enough.
⚠️ Saying His name is not enough.
⚠️ Attending church is not enough.

You must truly know Him, walk with Him, and be filled with His Spirit.
